Genetic Microdevices Ltd offers the opportunity for a young technician to work with an exciting technology for Biological Analysis, based on a proprietary microfluidic chip.

The company is seeking an inspired Lab Technician with the following responsibilities:

• To design and execute runs of the instrument
• To assess the performance of the prototype and propose improvements to the team

This is an interdisciplinary position that requires a combination of skills. The candidate is not required to have all the skills listed below; however, he/she will be expected to have deep knowledge of at least one important area of expertise and the desire to learn the others.

Suitable skills are:

• Experience with analytical techniques such as Electrophoresis
• Biochemistry/Biology, confidence in handling chemicals
• Basic understanding of electronics and circuits
• Moderate programming ability, preferably in C++ and fluent usage of computers

As this is a very hands-on job, the candidate will be expected to have excellent experimental skills. In addition important traits are, his/her ability to work in a team, to be systematic in their experimental approach and to demonstrate research initiative.

The company is located in Southwest London and collaborates with leading UK institutions such as City University and UCL.
